Safeguarding at Holland Junior School

Holland Junior School takes seriously its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in its care, and provide a safe environment in which children are kept safe, feel safe and can learn. Our staff and governors are committed to safeguarding the pupils at this school and contribute to multi-agency working to keep children safe. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility and everyone who comes in to contact with children and their families has a role to play. At Holland Junior School we expect all staff and governors to make sure that their approach is child-centred by considering, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child. All staff are expected to contribute to the culture of vigilance. No single practitioner can have a full picture of a child’s needs and circumstances, therefore everyone in our school has a role to play in identifying concerns, sharing information, and taking prompt action. All adults working in our school maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’. We recognise that staff, because of their contact with and knowledge of children in our school, are well placed to identify abuse or neglect and offer support to children in need. Holland Junior School is committed to promoting equality and preventing discrimination on the grounds of disability, ethnicity, gender, age, religion or belief and sexual orientation.
