Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE)

At Holland Junior School, we believe that Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) enables children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of the community

At Holland Junior School, we follow the Kapow Primary RSE and PHSE scheme of learning. The scheme of work is fully planned and the programme focuses on four key themes. The themes are:

•             Valuing families and different family structures

•             Creating and maintaining positive friendships

•             Developing safe and respectful relationships

•             Understanding the changes that take place during puberty

•             Promoting good health and carrying out first aid

•             Learning to make independent choices and not to be influenced by others

•             Operating safely in a digital world

Children will have opportunities for discussion, role-play and time to reflect.  The design of the PSHCE curriculum also teaches children how to make wise decisions.
