Additional Needs

Our "School Provision Map" details all that we offer our pupils here at school through teaching and learning opportunities.  We use a system of provision mapping to show:-

  • effective whole-class quality first teaching strategies in place for all children. 
  • additional interventions to help children who may need to catch up (Targeted Provision).
  • interventions in place specifically to support the needs of children with SEN (SEN support).

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

​Special educational provision is educational provision that is additional to, or different from, that made generally for others of the same age.  This means provision goes beyond the differentiated approach and learning arrangements normally provided as part of high quality, personalised teaching.  Where a special educational need (SEN) is identified, we aim to put evidence-based interventions in place as quickly as possible.  These are provided as part of a graduated response which includes regular reviews of the progress made, with adaptations then being made to the support provided as required. Emotional Support

We have two Key Workers in our school who have had special training from educational psychologists to support the emotional development of children in school. They are able to help children learn to understand their emotions and respect the feelings of those around them. They provide time and space for pupils to think about their personal circumstances and how they manage them as well as providing a friendly face to “check in” with when they need a little extra advice or support.

 

All schools are required to publish a SEN Information Report.  This report includes information for identifying, assessing and making provision for pupils with SEN.  Further information regarding provision for children at Holland Junior School with SEN can be found in our Inclusion Policy
